We live in the beautiful surroundings of rural Hampshire in England.
At Pitswarren Kennels we have bred or owned 30 Show Champions and have another 18 Challenge Certificate winners besides numerous Reserve Challenge Certificate winners and Stud Book qualifiers in Hungarian Vizslas, Wirehaired Vizslas, Sussex and Welsh Springer Spaniels.
As of August 2022 Pitswarren have won in excess of 200 Challenge Certificates.
Much of the above has been significantly helped by our ever reliable friend and kennel sitter Caroline Smith - now retired.
In the UK a dog has to be awarded three Challenge Certificates (CCs) at three different Championship shows (the highest category of show) from three different judges confirming it is the best dog or bitch in the breed competition to win the coveted title of Show Champion.
The Hungarian Wirehaired Vizslas (HWHV) have only recently been awarded Challenge Certificate status by the Kennel Club.
We have long been involved with the Wires and Peter was one of the first judges to award CCs in the breed.
The coveted annual awards for Top Breeders, Top Dog, Top Puppy, Top Stud Dog, Top Sire and Top Brood Bitch have been won by us many times.
We are both Kennel Club approved Championship Show Judges and have awarded Challenge Certificates in Hungarian Vizslas many times.
Between us we are also passed to award Challenge Certificates in Hungarian Vizslas,Hungarian WireHaired Vizslas, Sussex Spaniels, Large Munsterlanders, Italian Spinones and Curly Coat Retrievers.
Our daughter Fran began as a junior and progressed to show her own SH.CH. Azertyuiop amongst others of our top dogs. Fran continues to show and judge when time allows.
We both Judge Best In Show, Groups, all Gundog breeds and many other breeds at Open Shows.
Peter was also invited by the Kennel Club to judge Hungarian Vizslas at Crufts 2014 where he had an excellent entry including many continental and overseas exhibitors.
We are approved by the Kennel Club as Assured Breeders.
We (Peter and Liz ) were the first couple to award Challenge Certificates to both Hungarian Vizslas and Hungarian Wirehaired Vizslas.
We were both been invited by the Kennel Club to judge at Crufts 2017. Peter was judging Hungarian Wired Haired Vizslas and Liz the Hungarian Vizslas. We were the first couple to ever award Challenge Certificates to these breeds at the same Championship Show and the first ever to do so at Crufts. We were thrilled and honoured to be given this opportunity.
At Pitswarren we breed for quality not quantity.
